Dermaplaning in Calgary

Most people do best with dermaplaning every 4–6 weeks — that’s roughly one full skin cell turnover cycle. 

No! that’s a super common myth!

Dermaplaning only removes vellus hair (often called “peach fuzz”) and dead skin on the surface. That hair is naturally fine and soft, and it will grow back at the same color, texture, and thickness as before.

What you might notice is that, because all the tips were cut at once, the regrowth can feel a little blunt at first  but it’s not actually thicker or darker, just a different shape until it tapers again.

If you ever see darker, coarser hair coming in, it’s usually from a different hair type (like terminal hairs) that dermaplaning doesn’t create  it just happens naturally over time due to hormones or genetics.

No  dermaplaning itself doesn’t make you break out!

We don’t dermaplane over active acne, because the goal is to gently lift away dead skin and peach fuzz, not irritate blemishes. The blade matters a lot too: in the studio we use a sharp, sterile surgical blade, not the dull at-home tools that can tug or scratch.

Good prep and aftercare also keep skin clear a proper cleanse before treatment, soothing serums right after, and keeping your routine light for a day or two all help prevent congestion. When done professionally with the right blade and skin prep, dermaplaning actually helps keep acne at bay by whisking away the buildup that can clog pores.

 Not at all! It feels more like a gentle scraping or brushing sensation. There’s no need for numbing  many clients say it’s actually quite relaxing.
